After living in urban, downtown Brainerd for a little over 2 years, we are finally moving into a more suitable home. We are moving from the shores of the mighty Mississippi River to the shores of beautiful Mille Lacs Lake in early November. This is like a dream come true for me. I’ve always wanted to live on a lake especially in Crow Wing County. The house is perfect for us and much more space and more modern, appropriate wiring.
I’m taking a break from weekly practice groups for a few months while we move. So, watch the Facebook feeds for updates
Mille LacsLake has wonderful energy. Come enjoy it with us at Awakening Waters (2 miles south of Garrison on Highway 169 on the right hand side at the Smith Lake Road Intersection). We have a practice group that meets from 6-7:15 every Tuesday evening. Come as you are – Everyone is welcome. Even if you’ve never done Qigong before. It’s a great way to learn and to keep your own practice fresh. We spend about 30 minutes doing gentle movements and slowing down the breath which helps to open the energetic pathways in the body. Then, we have a guided healing meditation for about 30 minutes. During the meditation I will send energy and balance each person. $5 donation requested.

Chinese New Year begins on February 8, 2016 this year. It has become tradition for me to join many others in a 100 day challenge. Do one thing everyday for 100 days without fail. Master Chunyi Lin of Spring Forest Qigong says, “A tip from Spring Forest Qigong Master Chunyi Lin for getting the greatest benefits from your qigong practice – consistency. Practice every day, at the same time, for 2 minutes, 10 minutes, 30 minutes, the longer the better but practice every day to get your energy flowing into perfect balance and harmony. When I first started Qigong and Tai Chi, my Shifu, Wendy DeGraffenried in Wasilla, Alaska told me about the tradition of the 100 day challenge in her lineage. Through the years, I’ve taken various challenges’ everything from decluttering, journaling to learning a new form or healing a specific health condition. This year I am going to do 100 days of Spring Forest Qigong Healing Meditation for at least 1 hour a day. I already have a daily Qigong practice; but, I frequently cut my meditation time short. I think it’s time to give it more attention and intention.
In the past I’ve used the handy progress chart supplied by Master Lin. I really do love my smartphone and need all the help I can get. I discovered the HabitBull app which is very motivating. It sends reminders and not only tracks progress but delivers incentives and a supportive community forum. You can track multiple habits at the same time.
I’ve also set up mini goals at 25 days. I am treating myself to different locations and some material rewards for sticking with the challenge.
All in all, I’m pretty excited about this year of the Fire Monkey. My late husband was a Monkey. There is a lighthearted playfulness to them. I am going embrace my monkey mind and take some risks, leap into new things, play, and find the light and fire where I can this year. My horoscope for this year is encouraging:

Although single Boars may receive a lot of opportunity for romance, this year doesn’t seem to be the one that they turn long-term. Long-term relationships may struggle with misunderstandings and it is advisable to keep emotions under control
They are sensitive and sincere so they are ideal partners, as long as they don’t become too possessive and jealous and allow their loved ones space.
It may be the year to focus on personal success, as wealth is looking stable with a lucky star shining over Boars.
Overall, for all animal signs it is a great time for individual pursuits, especially for new inventions, creations and for taking a risk and being daring, rebellious and adventurous. New projects should be successful with the Monkey’s entrepreneurial and artistic influence, as long as they are rationally thought out and ruled by the head and not by emotions.
Dreams that may have been previously considered as far-fetched are within easy reach in 2016, with the year promising an incredible amount of positive transformational changes, making it a year to be remembered.

Many of you visited this site when I had a web design & hosting business. After 15 years, I decided it was time to do something different. So, As of October 1, 2015, I officially retired from the web thing and am not doing things that nourish me mentally, spiritually, emotionally, and physically. Working with computers is draining and at times soul sucking. I truly enjoyed my clients and helping them manifest their ideas; however, I became unbalanced.
So, I heard the call for Qigong in Brainerd, MN, my new home. This website will support that initiative as well as occasionally have some personal links and such. I’m going to leave the blog as the home page to keep the search engines happy. They tend to rank sites that regularly update higher. We need to appease the almighty and powerful Google.
